Our primary objective is to provide each customer with the distinctive Artisan ABQ Experience. Our inventory is curated to supply the necessary tools for fostering creativity. We are dedicated to sharing our extensive knowledge on how to utilize these supplies effectively, coupled with a commitment to delivering exceptional service that ensures everyone feels uniquely valued. Fostering a culture of enjoyment in our work, we aim to create an environment where both our team and customers can find fulfillment. Central to our approach is the cultivation of respect in all interactions, extending it to ourselves, our employees, suppliers, and customers. Our New Owners
Brittany Hepworth, MBA. and Jerry Hepworth, MBA. — both college-educated graduates — assumed ownership of Artisan ABQ in January 2023. Brittany, immersed in the fine art supply world from an early age, is the daughter of Ron Whitmore, co-owner of Artisan Santa Fe for 34 years. The opportunity to acquire Artisan Albuquerque arose with the retirement of Ernie Cavasos, the previous co-owner with 43 years of service.
Reflecting on her childhood at Artisan – Art Supply Source of the Southwest Canyon Road store, Brittany shares, “I always felt fortunate to be part of the artist community, aiding customers in finding the supplies to create their masterpieces. Art is an intimate act, creating something from the heart.” Brittany and Jerry, eager to continue their family’s legacy, envision significant plans for the store and the expansion of e-commerce.
Both possessing master’s degrees with honors, Jerry brings over 16 years of Business management expertise, encompassing project management, marketing, website development, and technical support. His broad understanding of computer hardware and software will enhance the e-commerce experience for Albuquerque customers and beyond. Meanwhile, Brittany, with 19 years of marketing experience and 15 years in digital marketing management, leverages her knowledge of SEO, analytics, and web development to strengthen Artisan ABQ’s presence in community events and drive e-commerce growth.
Beyond their professional acumen, Jerry and Brittany’s compassionate commitment to their community sets them apart. Emphasizing teamwork as crucial to success, they acknowledge the integral role of the Artisan ABQ team. Managers Mike Bell (18 years tenure) and Wesley Mebust (8 years tenure) lead an Albuquerque team comprising artists, offering a unique understanding of fine arts that benefits customers. The team, with their artwork displayed in the store, is dedicated to providing enthusiastic greetings, knowledge, and assistance for the highest customer satisfaction.

We’ve got some big shoes to fill…!
Ernie Cavasos, Artisan’s previous owner, retired in December 2022, leaving a legacy of over 35 years of operating the Artisan Albuquerque store. We are so grateful for his blessing, and on-going advice in the next phase of ArtisanABQ. We wish Ernie all the best in his much-deserved retirement, and will always hold him dear to our hearts.
